Casual/On-Call Cook/Prep Cook

Are you looking for a welcoming work environment surrounded by nature? We’re hiring! We are looking for an on-call/casual cook to cover staff holidays, sick days, and our busier times of year. Hours will vary each week and there are no guaranteed hours.

Job Duties

  • Prepare, portion, and cook buffet-style meals for groups ranging from 15 to 110 guests

  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, deep fryers, etc.) for meal preparation and dessert baking

  • Ensure all food is ready to serve at designated meal times

  • Prepare beverages, including coffee and juice station replenishment

  • Maintain cleanliness by mopping floors, sanitizing tables, counters, sinks, and washing dishes

  • Handlelaundry duties, including aprons, towels, cleaning cloths, and bedding

  • Monitor and log food and supply inventory to track low-stock items

  • Record and maintain cooler temperature logs to ensure food safety standards

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Valid Food Safe Certificate (mandatory)

  • Previous culinary experience and strong knowledge of food preparation

  • Reliable transportation (no public transit access to our location)

  • Valid First Aid Certificate (an asset)

Skills and Attributes:

  • Works well both independently and as part of a team

  • Has strong leadership skills and can take initiative

  • Is friendly, approachable, and kind with excellent people skills

  • Is flexible and willing to work some weekdays and weekends, and cover shifts for staff absences

  • Has experience cooking for large groups
